The purpose of this study was to compare narcissistic personality in addicted and normal individuals. The research method was causal-comparative. The statistical population included all referrers to clinics from the first and second districts of Tehran in the last quarter of 2016. The sample consisted of two groups. The first group included individuals referred to one of the addiction treatment clinics in districts 1 and 2 in Tehran in the last quarter of 2016 to leave addiction. The statistical population of the normal population included addicted relatives and their family members. A sample of 140 participants (70 normal people, 70 addicts) were selected using the convenient sampling method. The research instrument was the short-form questionnaire of narcissistic personality. Data were analyzed using independent t-test. The results of independent t-test showed that there was a significant difference between addicted individuals and normal people in terms of narcissism. The addicts had higher scores in the narcissistic questionnaire. Overall, the results indicate that addicts have personality problems, so this should be considered by addiction specialists.
