Addiction is a global problem that is facing most of the countries throughout the world. The billions of dollars are the cost of drug addiction, in addition to health care costs and lack of human-resource productivity. Therapeutic actions in many cases do not lead to positive results. Therefore, the importance of preventative efforts and coping with the tendency to misuse substance is clearly undeniable action. Accordingly, in the present study, coping strategies of tendency to substance abuse were reviewed using theoretical and practical principles. The method of the present research was analytic-descriptive, including previous studies, books, documents, and library sources. Generally, it can be concluded that regardless of biological factors; personal, familial, social, cultural/spiritual, economic and educational factors have influences on coping with substance abuse. According to the results of the present research, preventive actions are needed in the areas of familial, educational, economic, cultural/spiritual and personal factors to reduce substance abuse and providing job opportunities for substance abusers to increase security and social welfare for them.
